Technical Sales and Applications Engineer

Our client is looking for a highly motivated Technical Sales and Applications Engineer to join them at a time of rapid growth for their company. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and motivated Salesperson with a strong technical background in relevant scientific disciplines.

The company is a cutting-edge DPSS laser company supplying compact single frequency solid-state lasers in the UV and NIR spectra to high precision industries including semiconductor metrology, spectroscopy, microscopy, and bio-tech instrumentation. Their customer base is global, ranging from academic to industrial customers.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside their innovative engineering teams. You will develop consultative peer-peer sales relationships with clients who are often leaders in their field. With a technical background in a scientific discipline and an interest in lasers and optics, you will apply your expertise to support their customers throughout the world.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the marketing team to find and develop new clients across the globe but with particular emphasis in the UK and European markets.
  • Provide technical sales support to customers.
  • Prepare sales quotations, commercial proposals, and scientific funding proposals.
  • Attend exhibitions globally.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations to clients.
  • Visit specific sub-set of clients in Europe.
  • Able to succinctly explain technical details in a sales environment to draw out the interplay between the customer's requirements and the laser USPs.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate the customer's exact requirements into the organisation.
  • Ability to build and nurture relationships with customers employing recognised strategic sales techniques.
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, especially with experience in spectroscopy or bio science applications.
