Job description

Are you an experienced Technical Safety Engineer looking for a new challenge within a leading international energy operator? We are working with a well-established oil and gas company with a strong presence in the UK North Sea, known for its commitment to safe, efficient and environmentally responsible operations. This is a short-term contract position expected to last until 31st December 2025.

This role is based in Kingswells, Aberdeen, has arisen to provide cover and support during internal recruitment moves. The role will support the Engineering Management of Change (eMoC) process, Projects and Minor Modifications Teams, with a particular focus on HSE screening (regulatory and process safety), alongside providing technical input and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing major accident hazard studies and availability/reliability assessments for safety and environmental critical elements.
  • Updating and managing safety case documents and submissions.
  • Carrying out HAZIDs, HAZOPs, HAZANs and LOPAs.
  • Delivering ad-hoc risk assessments and operational risk assessments (ORAs).
  • Providing expert advice on ALARP principles and process safety management.
  • Supporting development and review of performance standards, procedures, and verification/audit findings.
  • Managing third-party consultant scopes of work.
  • Contributing to internal audit and assurance programmes.

About You:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or Science.
  • Proven experience in a technical safety role within the oil and gas sector.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK major hazards regulatory framework.
  • Familiar with process safety tools such as SIL assessment/validation, consequence modelling and frequency analysis.
  • Skilled in collaborating across departments and building effective working relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
