Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Specialist in quality assurance to act as the technical authority on our most complex scheme requirements. You will drive continual improvement and close quality gaps end-to-end, connecting assessment outcomes to customer experience and regulator expectations.

You will lead root-cause analysis, investigations into non-conformances, and coach teams across internal and outsourced delivery to ensure consistent, evidence-based decision making.

Qualifications

  • Recognised technical expertise in SSIP, Building Safety, Environmental or Quality requirements.
  • Hold NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of SSIP schemes and Build UK requirements.
  • Conduct structured root-cause analysis to identify systemic issues.
  • Fluent English with clear, evidence-based reporting.
  • Auditing, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused mindset linking technical quality to outcomes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • The Specialist is responsible for being the technical authority on our most complex scheme requirements, driving continual improvement and closing quality gaps end-to-end.
  • Proactively identify where quality, consistency or customer experience is breaking down across people, process, systems, outsourced delivery and AI.
  • Own a closed loop improvement model: convert findings into permanent fixes in training, guidance, process and system design, then re-measure to confirm the gap is closed.
  • Connect every quality and improvement activity to customer outcomes, accuracy, fairness, speed and confidence in our verified data.
  • Use assessment insight to reduce the avoidable rework, rejections and escalations that frustrate customers and suppliers.
  • Validate the integrity, accuracy and technical robustness of assessor outputs against scheme standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead thorough, fair investigations into non-conformances (NCs), applying deep technical expertise.
  • Conduct structured root cause analysis to separate systemic, process and individual causes.
  • Support the reporting of findings into targeted training, calibration and guidance so complex requirements are applied consistently.
  • Coach assessors and reinforce correct interpretation, raising technical decision-making across internal and outsourced teams.
  • Validate AI vs human decision-making to maintain consistency and quality across automated assessment layers.
  • Contribute to internal and external quality reviews and inspections (e.g. SSIP), providing evidence of coverage and control.
Requirements
  • Have recognised technical expertise in one or more of SSIP, Building Safety, Environmental or Quality requirements.
  • Hold a NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent), with a sound understanding of risk-based health & safety frameworks.
  • Have working knowledge of SSIP schemes and Build UK requirements, and their application in supplier assessment or assurance.
  • Be able to conduct root-cause analysis using structured investigative techniques.
  • Have fluent written and spoken English, with the ability to produce clear, evidence-based reporting.
  • Strong auditing, analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proven root-cause analysis using structured investigative techniques to identify systemic and process-driven issues.
  • A customer-focused mindset, able to connect technical quality to real customer outcomes.
  • Clear, evidence-based reporting with actionable, proportionate recommendations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder skills, able to challenge constructively and influence improvement.
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation across multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resilient, objective and solutions-oriented, with a genuine focus on continuous improvement and outcomes.
  • Experience within quality assurance, compliance or technical audit functions (desirable).
  • Knowledge and practical application of ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) (desirable).
