Job Title: Technical Project Manager

Location: Sandwich, Kent

Salary: £DOE

Hours: Week 1: Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 16:45 | Week 2 : Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 16:45 / Friday 08:00 - 16:30

Role Summary: As the Engineering Technical Project Manager, you will take charge of leading and managing key hardware and software/firmware engineering projects in order to deliver to customers within the agreed scope, on time, quality and budget.

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

  1. Leadership, coordination, proactive management, completion and delivery of assigned projects.
  2. Support bids and proposals.
  3. Lead, set and manage deadlines, monitor and manage progress of assigned projects.
  4. Lead and direct the work of other project team members to ensure successful project delivery.
  5. Prepare cost and price build-up analysis using data in the company's MRP and cost models.
  6. Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving relevant stakeholders and ensuring feasibility.
  7. Coordinate with other departments to ensure aspects of each project are compatible.
  8. Liaise with operations for lead time estimates and production schedule updates.
  9. Coordinate internal business resources and third parties for the execution and delivery of multiple projects.
  10. Ensure that projects are delivered on-time, within budget, to quality and scope.
  11. Coordinate resource availability and allocation.
  12. Develop a detailed project plan to monitor, track and report progress.
  13. Manage project changes such as scope, schedule and costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  14. Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques.
  15. Manage the relationship with the client and relevant stakeholders.
  16. Identify potential risks and solutions to minimise potential risks.
  17. Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
  18. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  19. Delegate project tasks effectively based on team members' individual strengths, skill, knowledge and experience.
  20. Track project performance to analyse the completion of short and long-term goals/objectives.
  21. Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.
  22. Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients/customers.
  23. Continually develop your own leadership and management skills.

Experience and skills required for this position:

  1. Previous Project Management experience - ideally with an understanding of a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, electro-optics, software, systems architecture etc.)
  2. A track record in risk management.
  3. From a defence or similar background.
  4. Understanding of ground based Surveillance Target Acquisition & Reconnaissance technology and products.
  5. Understanding of current end user concepts, tactics, techniques and procedures.
  6. Be familiar with the principles of New Product Introduction and gate processes.
  7. Project planning skills.
  8. Budget management and cost control.
  9. Project management and resourcing.
  10. Risk identification, management and mitigation.
  11. Process and continuous improvement.
  12. Negotiation skills.
  13. Problem solving and analytical skills.
  14. Strong communication skills.
  15. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multitask.
  16. Be able to work on your own initiative, and as part of a team.

Due to the nature of this business all candidates will be required to undergo security clearance at SC level.
