Job description

Contract Role: Technical Transformation Programme Manager

Location: Cambridge (Hybrid – 2 days a week onsite)

Rate: Competitive (Inside IR35)

Length:Initial 6-month contract

A leading technology-driven organisation is seeking a Technical Transformation Programme Manager to lead a strategic infrastructure modernisation programme. This role is focused on delivering a next-generation, on-premise platform built for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), full automation, and AI-enabled operations.

This is a programme management role that goes far beyond traditional infrastructure uplift. It involves a complete re-architecture of how infrastructure is designed, provisioned, and operated — replacing manual processes with code, automation, and intelligent agent control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a modern, automated infrastructure platform with AI-operable capabilities

  • Oversee key infrastructure components such as data centre expansion, programmable compute, and software-defined network/storage

  • Enable automation-first delivery models with observability, self-healing, and policy-driven control

  • Implement and mature GitOps workflows, IaC pipelines, and CI/CD processes across engineering teams

  • Lead programme governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement

  • Partner with senior leadership to align on strategy and execution

  • Drive cultural change and adoption of code-first, automation-led infrastructure practices

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale infrastructure transformation programmes

  • Deep understanding of hybrid/on-prem platforms, automation, and declarative infrastructure

  • Strong grasp of Infrastructure-as-Code, GitOps, DevOps, and platform engineering practices

  • Experience with automated, self-healing, and AI-operable infrastructure models

  • Comfortable leading cross-functional teams and managing complex stakeholder landscapes

  • Strong communication, vendor management, and change leadership skills
