About the role

As "the voice of the customer", you are accountable for maximizing the value of the Product (platform) the squad is responsible for. You'll work with your Squad members, Tribe lead, Chapter lead, and Agile Coach to define and prioritize initiatives aligned with the organization's strategic objectives. You should have good interpersonal skills and be confident engaging with stakeholders to understand their priorities and interdependencies affecting your Product.

You should show enthusiasm for speaking with users, customers, and consumers to understand what matters to them.

You will be expected to set a clear and inspiring vision for your product, make decisions, and prioritize to shape your Product backlog and guide your squad members. You should have a good understanding of the retail and/or telecom industries and the role your platform plays in delivering customer value. Your squad's subject matter expertise will enable you to deliver high-quality work autonomously. You should be willing to learn from mistakes and test assumptions quickly.

You will ensure the squad works on the right priorities to maintain a secure, well-functioning platform while driving innovation to deliver customer value.

Sitting in the Product Chapter, you'll work with the Chapter lead to develop your mastery as a Product Owner and support your peers to enhance the chapter's capabilities. You will be a self-led learner, researching to improve your knowledge and bringing best practices back into the chapter.

Responsibilities

  • Understand your Product and make development decisions to meet Product and Tribe OKRs.
  • Stay informed about industry developments and understand critical systems and platforms.
  • Recognize how your platform impacts customer experience; incorporate their needs into your roadmap.
  • Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to align on needs and goals, considering dependencies, risks, and value.
  • Set and monitor KPIs, continuously improving for better value, scalability, and robustness.
  • Embed Scrum methodology within your squad, including ceremonies, roles, purpose, vision, and backlog management.
  • Collaborate on defining and iterating your product vision and roadmap.
  • Write user stories following INVEST, use story mapping, and gather stakeholder feedback early.
  • Understand Tesco Mobile's architecture and prioritize platform improvements aligned with architecture goals and security standards.

Requirements

  • Curiosity and a desire to understand users and learn quickly.
  • Experience in an agile environment with Scrum practices.
  • Previous experience in Technical Product Management or related roles.
  • Knowledge of architecture patterns like Microservices, Serverless, RESTful APIs.
  • Strategic thinking, prioritization, and roadmapping skills.
  • Analytical skills using data and insights.
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with cloud services (AWS, Azure), containerization (Kubernetes), log analysis (Splunk), and cybersecurity measures.
