Job description

Human Made is looking for a Technical Product Owner to join the Altis Cloud team. This is a remote position but you should be based in either EST Americas or Europe.

Altis Cloud is an enterprise WordPress web host, delivering billions of page views every year with 99.99% uptime, across 7 global datacentre regions on the AWS Cloud. Altis Cloud is a product of Human Made, an enterprise WordPress services company.

Over the past 14+ years, we've worked with companies like Harvard, Sony, and Standard Chartered to transform the way people interact with some of the most visited websites in the world. We have deep expertise and investment with WordPress, as one of the largest contributors to the project, and you'll even be working alongside the co-founder of WordPress and other significant contributors!

Our decade of experience in agile delivery, cloud hosting, and passion for open source solutions supports clients in their journey to embrace the edge of innovation. Human Made is a fully distributed company, with employees based remotely around the world.

Human Made is a remote and globally distributed organization. However, due to the remote nature of our team, we can't provide any legal sponsorship to attain a work visa or permit in your country of residence, nor in any of the countries where we operate. We strongly advise you to seek legal counsel to ensure your residential status is fully legal before you apply.

THE ROLE

As a Technical Product Owner on Altis, you will be responsible for guiding the delivery of the Altis Cloud product directly with the engineering team. You will work directly with the Director of Product, collaborating on high-level vision and strategy, and translating the strategy into product development. You will need to have a deep understanding of Altis' target markets and have the ability to align feature development with customer demand, working to understand client and partner demands.

You'll be working alongside a team of highly-skilled engineers and other contributors. Our engineering team operates as a self-directed agile team, and you will work alongside them to assist with refinement, prioritisation, and sprint planning. Your role will also involve collaborating with the sales and marketing teams to help translate features into commercial value.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Director of Product to create product plans, roadmaps and product strategies consistent with the company strategy
  • Develop and prioritise the product backlog to prioritise, adapt, and deliver, while managing scope, time and budget
  • Collect and analyze feedback from clients, partners, and internal stakeholders to shape and refine requirements, features and end products
  • Build and maintain an understanding of our target market, and transform customer problems into actionable requirements
  • Coordinate a cross-functional team of engineers, project managers, and other contributors
  • Write detailed feature briefs for upcoming features to enable them to be clearly understood by the delivery team and translated into commercial value

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a B2B with a Saas product
  • Background in product ownership for software development
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to proactively solve problems
  • Familiarity with Agile framework

Desired

  • Experience with web hosting platforms
  • Understanding of WordPress development
  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles for the development of online platforms
  • Knowledge of cloud-based SaaS solutions

Benefits

  • Salary range: £55,000 - £65,000 or local equivalent
  • Flexible working
  • Parental leave
  • 35 day maximum holiday policy
  • Sickness and carers leave
  • Annual company retreat
  • Conference and training budget
  • Monthly remote working allowance
  • Work wherever you want
  • New computer and phone when you need it
  • Office equipment when you need it after probation
