Job Description:

Place of Work/Group Company: Nijhuis Saur Industries UK & Ireland, Yorkshire

Summary: The role involves providing technical front-line support to industrial process/clean water treatment operations across the UK, monitoring process performance, fault finding, and providing technical guidance to understand and implement process changes to maintain performance. The specialist will serve as the primary on-site technical presence, travel within the region and occasionally across the UK, lead/support water-related projects, and develop process improvements. They will be supported by managers and technical teams, bringing extensive water treatment/chemical/process engineering experience to optimize treatment efficiencies and support operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Promote safety leadership and uphold policies, legislative requirements, and company values.
  • Possess in-depth process knowledge for fault finding, risk assessment, and process impact analysis.
  • Make technical decisions based on site-specific process knowledge.
  • Monitor daily process performance and provide technical guidance to ensure optimal activity and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with site-specific parameters, KPIs, client requirements, and regulations.
  • Support industrial water treatment operations front-line.
  • Focus on operational costs and influence factors.
  • Coordinate with O&M teams to share best practices and support site activities without impacting daily performance.
  • Analyze risks and manage them within long-term service contracts.
  • Attend customer review meetings to report on plant performance and risks.
  • Identify opportunities for additional support and new business development with the NSI Business Development Team.
  • Develop water-related services and review data to identify performance issues and solutions.
  • Lead or support pilot plant operations and contribute to design reviews for new assets and process changes.
  • Engage in research and technological debates to maximize plant performance.
  • Lead by example, collaborate with teams, and respond to emergencies technically.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Degree and postgraduate qualification in relevant engineering or water treatment disciplines (or significant relevant experience).
  • Deep understanding of industrial water treatment technologies (membrane separation, ion exchange, EDI, etc.).
  • Minimum 5 years of site-based water treatment experience.
  • Understanding of business strategy development and implementation.
  • Effective communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking, leadership, influence, and change management skills.
  • Valid full clean driving license.
  • Desirable: HSQE, leadership, project management, site management, incident investigation, auditing qualifications.

Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday

Probation: 6 months; Notice period: 1 week during probation, 1 month afterward.
