Technical Pensions Analyst

This role can be hybrid at any of our XPS offices or remote with occasional office attendance.

Our Implementation Services business continues to rapidly grow and we are now looking for an experienced Technical Pensions Analyst to join one of our vibrant offices with remote or hybrid working. This is an exciting role and would most likely suit someone with previous experience in a similar role where they have been part of a pensions administration team providing technical system support, strong SQL and C# skills and proficient in DB and DC pension schemes.

The Team

This role is within Implementation Services (IST). IST is comprised of specialist team members that support the XPS Administration business in a variety of areas. The team provides technical, IT and specialist expertise to XPS Administration that underpins the quality solutions we provide to our administration clients. The team is located across the XPS Administration national offices.

The Role

As a Technical Pensions Analyst with XPS you will:

  • As part of transition activity, we will be required to install both Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution schemes onto our administration system, Aurora.
  • Be responsible for technical leadership contributing to the successful completion of the project for the administration take on.
  • Leadership of analyst teams within large projects.
  • Attendance at project meetings.
  • Consultation on technical processes and outcomes.
  • The setup and maintenance of all technical documents relevant to the transition of the scheme and its testing.
  • Performance of technical work including:
    • Analysis of administration data sets.
    • Supporting the Admin team with the delivery of their data installation.
    • Creation of calculation specification and test pack for system automation.
    • Installation of new automation.
    • Regression and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Calculation support including installation of new calculation automation and amendments to existing calculation automation.
  • Take ownership of technical processes in the team to ensure they are maintained and act as an expert point of reference.
  • Participate in the review and development of team processes.

Your profile

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience of working within a pensions administration team as a user, or a system support position in the pensions industry is required.
  • Experience of working with common pension administration systems and third-party IT suppliers e.g. PenScope, Compendia, ProFund.
  • Proficient knowledge in benefit structures and calculation requirements for DB, DC and Hybrid pension schemes.
  • IT proficient, with an emphasis on using Excel.
  • Well-motivated self-starter who can demonstrate innovative and creative thinking.
  • Ability to lead and direct through excellent team working skills with experience of motivating and developing multi-disciplinary technical teams.
  • Enthusiasm for and commitment to establishing a successful technical framework.
  • Ability to implement corporate policies and procedures.
  • Understands the methodologies used in a software development and support environment e.g. Agile, Waterfall, ITIL.
  • Proven track record of delivery and exceeding business objectives.

Desirable Criteria
  • Understanding of programming languages such as SQL and/or C# coding language is not required but may be beneficial.
