Job summary

Yeo Valley Production Ltd is seeking a Technical Operator for the Nights shift at Newton Abbot. The role runs a 4-on/4-off pattern from 06:00 to 18:00, focused on keeping complex equipment running smoothly and safely to meet daily KPIs.

You will troubleshoot, maintain and optimise machinery, perform validation checks and support a strong quality management culture across the site, contributing to high standards of hygiene and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine checks to validate and maintain equipment safety control systems.
• Escalate any food safety breach and ensure issues are resolved and released.
• Govern the quality management system to exceed customer expectations.
• Adhere to hygiene, PPE, and dress code; Lead a Clean as You Go approach.
• Operate and optimise equipment to meet production demand and quality.
• Conduct fault finding, identify root causes, and escalate to engineering when needed.
• Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of all equipment.
• Collaborate across the team and hand over effectively to share challenges and opportunities.
• Inspire the team with enthusiasm and proactive action.

So, what will I be doing?

We are looking for a Technical Operator to join our Nights team at Newton Abbot. This role will be 4 days on 4 days off working 06:00 to 18:00.

As the Technical Operator you will be utilising your operationaland mechanical skills and knowledge, you will be the go‑to person for all in the team that need support with complex operational processes, optimising complexmachines or identifying root cause of underlying problems. Through the undertaking of maintenance tasks, validation checks andoptimisation of the machines, you will ensure the team are able to meet their daily Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) with optimal utilisation of our assets and raw materials.

Your responsibilities:

• Undertake routine checks to validate and maintain equipment safety control systems to maintain statutory compliance. Escalate any food safety breach or quality issue and ensure that any product below our standards is identified and held and the issues are escalated appropriately, resolved and released.
• Active involvement, commitment and governance of the quality management system, making sure all relevant controls and procedures are completed effectively to validate food safety controls and the products we make exceed customer and consumer expectations.
• Understands, adheres and leads good manufacturing practices and company standards of hygiene, PPE, and dress code. Role models a 'Clean as You Go' approach, leading workplace organisation and visual management standards with the team.
• Effective operation and optimisation of equipment and priorities to meet the production demand and delivery of the highest quality of products.
• Undertake advanced/complex fault finding, decision making and rectification on equipment and lead the identification of root cause, escalating to engineering when required.
• Ensuring all equipment is properly cared for by the completion of effective cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Work across the team and effective handovers to understand common challenges and opportunities seeking to identify where investigations may help most.
• Energises the team and demonstrates a consistently enthusiastic approach, taking action quickly and encouraging others to do the same.
