Technical Operator - Casual
Times Radiohas shaken up the broadcasting firmament since launching in June 2020, and our nomination as UK Station of the Year in the Arias reflects the impact we’ve made. We’ve built a strong reputation for thoughtful and intelligent news and discussion, combining the journalistic excellence of The Times and The Sunday Times with the broadcast expertise of News Broadcasting. We’re now looking to casually employ Technical Operators (Tech Ops) to support our live output and keep our studio
Your Role:
You will be at the heart of our broadcast operations, ensuring that our programmes are produced to the highest technical standards. You will work closely with presenters, producers, and the wider editorial team to deliver seamless and compelling audio content. Your expertise in audio production and broadcast technology will be crucial in maintaining the quality and consistency of our output.
Day to day you will:
Be the final point of quality control for Times Radio, producing balanced, great sounding radio
Putting visualised guests and presenters to air in our state of the art radio studios
Working closely with Editors and Producers in an exciting, fast paced environment
Performing line tests with contributors
Scheduling and controlling our studio playout system, RCS Zetta
Working with our news gathering systems like NewsBoss
Mixing and influencing the sound of our station through our Telos AxiaFusion audio consoles
Controlling our studio visualisation system, MultiCAM
Working with our studio phone and outside source suit, BionicStudio/PhoneBOX
What we’re looking for from you:
Knowledge of and experience working with audio in a live environment
Experience with studio equipment, microphones and headphones
Experience with recording audio onto solid state recorders
Experience with getting live visualised guests on air using integrated programmes like Zoom, FaceTime and Skype
Ability to work under pressure
Good communicator
Willingness to work flexibly across our 24 hour a day, 7 days a week, live radio schedule.
