Technical Operator

Salary: £32,000 (incl. shift premium) | Location: UK | Shifts: 2 days/2 nights/4 off, 12-hour shifts

My client, specialists in organo-sulphur synthesis and high-pressure hydrogenation, are seeking an experienced Process Operative to join their team supporting global pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and specialty chemical markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate chemical processes including distillations, separations, transfers, and powder handling.
  • Use of vacuum systems, nitrogen, and control panels in both standard and GMP areas.
  • Monitor reactions and adapt to evolving production needs.

Shift Pattern:
5-shift system: 2 days / 2 nights / 4 off (12-hour shifts: 6am–6pm or 6pm–6am), including most weekends and bank holidays. An 18-day break every 8 weeks includes 1 day of training. One hour paid break per shift.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in chemical manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong focus on health & safety, with knowledge of COSHH and risk assessments.
  • IOSH Working Safely and counterbalance forklift license desirable.
  • Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade C or above); Level 2 vocational qualification advantageous.
