Job Details

We currently have a permanent Technical Operative vacancy covering all areas of Fife, providing a service to various agencies. Working as part of a team based at Bankhead Central, covering Fife-wide, this demanding role could be for you.

Technical Operative
  • Permanent, 36 hours per week, from 5:30am to 1:12pm, Monday to Friday, with a salary of £25,885.80 to £28,175.91 pro rata.

Technical Operatives provide a specialist internal and external cleaning service across the Council and its partners.

This includes providing a fast response emergency call-out service outside normal working hours (Operatives may be required to be part of an on-call rota as needed).

You will earn a competitive salary with access to a range of benefits, including:

  • £13.79 per hour to start, plus extra payments for shift work, including weekends.

Other duties could include:

  • Carrying out initial risk assessments prior to each job to identify risks within the building/area, including signs of needle/drug use, and performing full needle sweeps if required, with relevant record-keeping.
  • Cleaning up biohazards, including bodily fluids such as feces and blood, fumigation of premises for fleas, etc., using specialist chemicals.
  • Clearing and cleaning of domestic premises, gardens, sheds, and garages for Housing and Social Work, including removal of unwanted items, disinfection, deep cleaning, and reporting/safeguarding valuable items found. Tasks may be carried out in the presence of vulnerable residents.
The Person
  • Ability to provide a regular and effective service, working alone or as part of a team.
  • A valid Driving Licence is required, including for Class C1 vehicles.
  • Before confirming your appointment, you will need to obtain PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and join the relevant PVG scheme.
  • You will be required to attend an Induction Training Day before starting in the role.
