Job description

For many fans of Formula One, the sport exists between lights and chequered flag on a Sunday afternoon. It begins and ends with the exploits of the drivers on the track. But this is merely the tip of the spear. The reality of modern F1 is that of a complex and intertwined operation, every part of which needs to perform near its limit if success is to be achieved. From the pit crew searching for the ultimate repeatable pit stop, to the inspiration of the designers, the application of engineers and the herculean efforts of an army of fabricators and machinists. Much of our success is thanks to the diversity of thought and spectrum of skill sets held within the team, our ability to recognise unique contributions from individual team members is just a part of why we love what we do.

Job Description

Red Bull Powertrains are offering multiple year-long placement opportunities within our Technical Operations teams. In these hands-on roles you will be emersed into the heart of our state-of-the-art Technical and Manufacturing facilities where we drive engineering and innovation to the limit to develop cutting-edge Formula 1 power units. Pushing boundaries is in our DNA!

If you're a passionate engineer, technical specialist, or problem-solver, this is your opportunity to help shape the future of high-performance motorsport. Ready to make your mark?

The Technical Operations departments form the backbone of Red Bull Powertrains, providing a single source of truth for end-to-end planning—spanning concept, delivery and operation of our power unit programmes. Within this, the Planning & Control team creates and manages detailed project plans aligned with business objectives, driving delivery, flagging issues and challenging priorities to ensure clear alignment of key activities and milestones across the organisation. A crucial aspect of Technical Operations involves managing component demand, tracking usage and scheduling parts through our world-class manufacturing and assembly facilities to ensure the right components are delivered at the right time. This requires close collaboration with multiple teams to coordinate the timely delivery of high-quality parts based on priority and production schedules. Red Bull Racing’s Technical Operations also plays a critical role in ensuring power unit performance, reliability, and efficiency throughout the Formula 1 season. The department includes specialised areas such as Engine Build, Sub Assembly, Engine Strip, and ERS Assembly—each vital to the life cycle of the power unit. Together, these teams ensure our power units are built to the highest standards, race after race.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the development and implementation of best practice methods, processes, and tools across departments to improve efficiency, meet project priorities, and deliver on Red Bull Powertrains' objectives
  • Lead and support engineering project planning and delivery, including defining detailed hardware requirements, coordinating fast-paced projects with ambitious deadlines, and ensuring alignment with top-level business goals
  • Create and maintain structured Bills of Materials (BoMs) to support the design, build, and manufacturing processes effectively
  • Collaborate with technical and manufacturing teams across the business to provide technical support, drive continuous improvement, and deliver world-class engineering solutions
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of business systems, processes, and cross-functional interactions—from production and validation to testing and reuse—to identify areas for improvement and contribute to wider business development initiatives
  • Support the creation of company-wide documentation and onboarding materials, such as communication maps, process manuals, and flowcharts, to improve consistency and support new starters
  • Analyse and report technical data clearly and effectively, preparing documentation and presenting insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Gain direct exposure to the 2026 Formula 1 season, with opportunities to contribute to the future success of Red Bull Powertrains on and off the track

We’re looking for passionate, curious and driven undergraduates who are eager to push the limits of engineering innovation in a fast paced, high-performance environment. If you're ready to take on real responsibility, solve real-world engineering challenges and contribute to the future of Red Bull Racing’s success on track—this is your opportunity.

Expected knowledge, experience & attributes of the successful candidates:

  • Knowledge and experience from at least one year of undergraduate study on either an Engineering, Science or Technology degree
  • Good knowledge of Formula 1 Hybrid Power Units
  • Positive, can-do, attitude and willingness to learn new skills
  • Ability to follow best practice and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in a team environment
  • Ability to break complex technical problems down to fundamental principles
  • Ability to demonstrate a genuine passion for engineering through involvement in extra-curricular projects, previous placements, or work experience

The placement will be for 1 year, starting July 2026. To be considered for this Student Placement, please apply to this advert and submit both your CV and a one-page Cover Letter.
