Job summary

Southern Microbiological Services, part of Tentamus, is seeking an experienced Technical Operations Manager to lead our UKAS-accredited laboratory for food and cosmetic testing. You will be the on-site technical authority, ensuring testing methodologies, QMS alignment with ISO 17025, and compliance with safety regulations while guiding a team of analysts and scientists.

The role requires a track record in laboratory management or senior technical leadership in food or cosmetics, strong ISO 17025

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related scientific discipline.
• Experience in cosmetics including microbiological, chemical and physical testing with CPSR knowledge.
• Proven track record in laboratory management or senior technical roles in food or cosmetics.
• Strong IT literacy and data management skills.

Responsibilities

• Quality and Compliance: oversee the Laboratory QMS to ensure ISO 17025 compliance.
• Team Leadership: mentor technicians and microbiologists, coordinating training and goals.
• Testing and Analysis: supervise microbiological, chemical, and physical testing for food and cosmetics.
• Auditing: prepare for and respond to third‑party, customer and regulatory audits.
• Quality Management: collaborate with the Quality Team to maintain high standards and KPI reporting.
