Job summary

Southern Microbiological Services – A Tentamus Company in Wellington is seeking an experienced Technical Operations Manager to lead our microbiological testing laboratory operations for food, cosmetics and related sectors. You will be the on-site technical authority ensuring testing methodologies and quality control align with UKAS ISO 17025 standards and safety legislation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related scientific discipline.
Strong IT literacy and ability to work with laboratory software.
Experience in cosmetics testing and familiarity with CPSRs is advantageous.
Proven leadership experience in laboratory management or senior technical roles.

Responsibilities

Quality and Compliance - oversee the Laboratory QMS to ensure ISO 17025 compliance.
Team Leadership - mentor Technicians and Microbiologists and ensure training goals are met.
Testing and Analysis - supervise microbiological testing operations for food and cosmetics.
Auditing - lead readiness and manage responses to third-party, customer and regulatory audits.
Quality Management - collaborate with the Quality Team to present KPI data and maintain high standards.
