Technical Officer - Environmental Protection

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Officer - Environmental Protection to join a forward-thinking Regulatory Services team in Newcastle-under-Lyme. This position offers the chance to lead a highly skilled team delivering a wide range of statutory environmental functions, including air quality, pollution control, statutory nuisance, and contaminated land.

As Technical Officer - Environmental Protection, you will provide technical support within the Environmental Protection Team of Regulatory Services, including undertaking inspections, investigations, and appropriate follow-up actions such as advice, support, and enforcement.

Main duties of the Technical Officer - Environmental Protection:

1. Responsible for the efficient execution of duties related to contaminated land, air quality, private water supply regulation, regulation of industrial processes, statutory nuisance complaints, and pollution-related anti-social behavior.
2. Provide professional advice to planning and licensing teams.
3. Prepare and assist in the preparation of material for talks, lectures, or presentations, and participate in these activities if required.
4. Prepare evidence, legal case files, and attend court, tribunals, appeals, and hearings to present the council's evidence.

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

• Environmental protection duties as listed above.
• Legal and court procedures related to environmental issues.
