Job summary

Bristol City Council is seeking a Technical Officer to support the planned maintenance programme across bathroom, gas heating and electrical installations. You’ll work with Planned Supervisors, Surveyors and Contractors to book surveys, maintain records, and manage compliance and invoices.

This hybrid role focuses on delivering safe, high-quality projects for residents, while developing surveying, contract management and delivery skills within a dynamic team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Installations Team across bathroom, gas heating and electrical heating programmes.
  • Coordinate and book resident surveys, installation appointments and follow-on works, ensuring efficient service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate project records, databases and programme documentation.
  • Support the preparation, collection and management of compliance certificates and other statutory documentation.
  • Assist in the processing, validation and monitoring of invoices, purchase orders and contractor payments.
  • Liaise with residents, contractors, surveyors and supervisors to ensure works are effectively coordinated and delivered.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and maintain regular communication with residents throughout the delivery of works.
  • Monitor programme progress and support the achievement of key performance indicators, targets and project milestones.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, correspondence and management information as required.
  • Ensure documentation is maintained in accordance with Council procedures, contract requirements and data protection obligations.
  • Support contract administration activities and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
  • Promote and maintain a strong commitment to health and safety, quality standards and customer care.

Location: Sandy Park Depot / Hybrid Working.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Bristol City Council’s Planned Programmes Team as a Technical Officer within the expanding Installations Team. This is an excellent development opportunity within a fast-paced and dynamic service that delivers large-scale improvement programmes across the Council’s housing stock.

The Planned Programmes Team is responsible for delivering high-quality bathroom replacement programmes, gas heating installations and electrical heating installation projects. Our objective is to provide safe, secure and well-maintained homes that residents can be proud of.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Technical Officer, you will work closely with Planned Supervisors, Surveyors and Contractors to support the successful delivery of an expanding planned maintenance programme. The role will provide support across all three installation workstreams, responding flexibly to business needs and programme priorities.

You will be responsible for providing administrative and technical support, including booking surveys and installation appointments, maintaining project records, supporting compliance processes and assisting with invoice management. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

The role requires regular engagement with residents, contractors and internal stakeholders to coordinate activities, resolve issues and ensure successful project outcomes.
