We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative Technical Copywriter with a strong focus on Financial Promotions, to produce and develop high-quality content that simplifies complex financial concepts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing and marketing for regulated industries, preferably from the financial services sector, with the ability to engage both professional and non-professional audiences.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide the marketing and comms team with expertise and guidance for financial services related supervision and compliance issues. Always ensuring that our marketing materials and communications, across all channels, are compliant with the FCA rules on Systems and Controls (SYSC), and adhering to Consumer Duty directives, including (but, not limited to) the core principles financial firms need to follow with all clients and prospective clients:
- To be fair, clear and not misleading
- To give a balanced impression of a firm’s products or services
- To not disguise or diminish important warnings or statements.
The secondary purpose of the role is to conceptualise and provide marketing copy in response to creative briefs, including but not limited to, original content for marketing campaigns and communications, digital and social channels, and marketing collateral.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as the control function and the compliance and regulatory authority within our marketing and comms team.
- Ensure all marketing output adheres to FCA guidelines, regulations and Consumer Duty.
- Be the marketing team’s owner of the Financial Promotions manual, ensuring it’s up to date and followed, appropriate controls are in place, and the team is fully trained.
- Translate complex financial information into accessible, user-friendly material in compliance with FCA (SYSC), Consumer Duty directives, and the Raymond James Financial Promotions manual.
- Undertake regular audits to ensure that all marketing materials, across all channels, are up to date and compliant withFCA (SYSC), Consumer Duty directives, and the Raymond James Financial Promotions manual.
- Liaise with the Compliance team, as required and in accordance with internal procedures.
- Create and develop original content, adhering to compliance and regulatory frameworks, for marketing and comms, digital properties, and promotional materials, in support of:
- Raymond James wealth managers and their teams
- Raymond James’ business development team in particular for wealth manager recruiting and proposition development
- Raymond James’ head office departments
- The Raymond James brand.
- Maintain the corporate brand standards, and a consistent tone-of-voice.
- Proofread and edit marketing content to ensure clarity, coherence, and correctness.
- Build excellent working relationships at all levels, within and outside of the department, with wealth managers and their teams, senior leadership and internal departments.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and technical depth in content.
- Research industry trends and stay ahead of compliance and regulatory changes.
- Determine and agree priorities in a self-directed work environment, to meet agreed SLAs and turnaround times.
- Optimise content for SEO and ensure alignment with marketing and business strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, English, Journalism, or equivalent, preferred.
- Proven experience as a technical copywriter, content writer, or a similar role.
- A solid understanding ofFCA rules on Systems and Controls (SYSC)and Consumer Duty.
- Previous experience of working within financial businesses, or similar industries.

- Full proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Familiarity with Adobe InDesign and how to use content management systems (CMS).
- Familiarity with SEO principles and content marketing strategies.

- An analytical thinker, able to effectively interpret and incorporate feedback, to aligning creative decisions with regulatory rules and requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail, with sound administrative and organisational skills.

- Flexibility to work additional hours on occasions, as and when required.
