Overview

Technical Manager (Ventilation) – Manchester. Competitive salary up to £70,000 per annum + car allowance & bonus. A leading national FM provider is looking for a Technical Manager (Ventilation) to join their team in Manchester. This is a key position, ensuring asset compliance, developing effective maintenance strategies, and maximising the lifecycle of ventilation and associated assets through a proactive, cost-efficient approach.

You'll take ownership of the technical performance for ventilation systems, ensuring compliance with statutory and company procedures, while providing expert guidance across the site. Working closely with subcontractors, stakeholders, and operational leads, you'll play a crucial role in delivering safe, efficient, and compliant facilities services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on all ventilation-related issues and support across other technical disciplines when required
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance of assets, ensuring compliance and the correct standard of delivery
  • Act as Authorised Person (AP) for Ventilation, with full training provided in related disciplines (e.g. Pressure Systems, Medical Gases)
  • Investigate and manage claims of defect or asset failure
  • Produce and review lifecycle replacement plans, including budgets, risks, and timelines
  • Provide technical reports, surveys, and condition assessments
  • Ensure third-party contractors deliver against required standards and service expectations
  • Support innovation in lifecycle and maintenance strategies
  • Maintain compliance documentation including O&M manuals and record drawings
  • Represent the provider at NHS safety and technical groups
  • Provide guidance and technical support to the wider team
About You

We're looking for a technically strong, proactive manager who can lead with expertise, build strong stakeholder relationships, and drive compliance in a complex, critical environment.

Essential Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Must have held the role of Ventilation Authorised Person (AP) within a healthcare premises
  • Full understanding of HTM 03-01 standards
  • Proven experience in a technical management role
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely)
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Building Services systems
  • Skilled in report writing and presentation
Desirable
  • Experience within healthcare environments
  • Knowledge of PFI contracts
  • Previous FM experience, ideally within hospitals or complex facilities
