Job summary

Plymouth-based Technical Manager role with a well-established precision engineering business. You will lead a small, experienced team, own customer relationships, quotations and quality standards while driving continuous improvement. The position offers a competitive salary and a path to influence operations and outcomes.

Working closely with the General Manager, you’ll oversee lean manufacturing, 5S practices and production support from enquiry to delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical or operational management within precision engineering or manufacturing SME.
• Strong engineering knowledge across machining, welding and fabrication; able to advise customers and support production teams.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing and 5S with proven improvements.
• HNC in Mechanical Engineering or time-served apprenticeship.
• Commercial awareness with ability to work independently and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer accounts, quotations, and act as a key technical contact for customers.
• Process orders and support production activities to ensure projects run from enquiry through to delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement using lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
• Monitor quality standards and oversee ISO 9001 compliance across the business.
• Collaborate with the General Manager to support day-to-day operations in a fast-paced precision engineering environment.
