Job description

Technical Manager
Competitive salary
Middlesbrough

Once in a lifetime opportunity to grow as an established site quadruples output over the next three years; work with celebrity endorsed brands; and gain the kind of experience most people never get to.

The Company:

For most of the last 30 years, ICB was a steady, profitable manufacturer of co-manufacturer and retailer own label spirits and alcohol products. Two years ago, the business was bought, and the new owners decided to leverage the profitable infrastructure and talented management team to focus on growth. Now, the business is investing heavily in branding, manufacturing, capex, and people.

Not only will you work on a site that is quadrupling output and investing heavily, but you'll also collaborate with major UK retailers and work with a range of brands, including celebrity endorsed ones.

The Site:

Over the next three years, the site's output is set to quadruple. This presents a unique challenge in your career. Significant upgrades have been made recently, including new lines and substantial investments. The site features modern ERP systems that efficiently track products and packaging. It has secured co-packing business from major alcohol manufacturers and is innovating in products and processes through ongoing investments.

The Job:

You will be the technical lead for the site, overseeing quality, compliance, and customer confidence, with a typical reporting structure to the Quality Manager, Lab Techs, and Tech Admin. The role involves managing a complex mix of products, including alcohol-free, spirits, high sugar, and high alcohol content products, and handling various packaging and manufacturing challenges across different continents and retail audits.

You:

No need to be a drinks expert or have decades of experience. Candidates from other food or drink sectors, such as meat-free products, sushi, or salads, are encouraged to apply. Essential qualities include high energy, enthusiasm, a strong background in quality or technical management within a reasonable-sized food or drinks manufacturer, and excellent problem-solving skills. Commitment and a desire to learn and grow with the site are crucial.

Ideal candidates are committed, enthusiastic, and aspirational, willing to be the face of technical operations across the site and with customers. Frequent job changes or a lack of commitment may be viewed unfavorably.

What you’ll get:

A competitive starting salary, with details shared upon contact. The package includes a 6% pension contribution, BUPA health cover for you and your family, and a health cash plan. There are opportunities for personal growth, future acquisitions, and the chance to shape a technical team during a period of significant investment. Candidates from other industries are welcome to apply, offering a chance to learn a new industry and develop your career.
