ICL, Hammersmith Campus Full Time Competitive Salary

Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for technical excellence, stakeholder communication, and delivering high standards across complex environments? We re looking for an experienced Technical Operations Manager to join our Facilities team at Imperial College London (ICL), overseeing critical operations across the Hammersmith and White City Campuses, as well as remote medical sites.

This is a pivotal role within our contract management team ideal for someone who thrives in a multi-site, regulated environment and can balance engineering insight with strong operational leadership.

What You ll Be Doing

  • Lead and manage a Multi-Site Supervisor, overseeing performance, absence, holidays, and staff development.
  • Manage third-party contractors on-site, including permit control, RAMS review, and compliance checks.
  • Be the main point of contact for technical and operational issues, ensuring transparent communication with all stakeholders.
  • Drive a culture of safety and quality, with a strong focus on H&S compliance across all sites.
  • Collaborate with planning and support teams to ensure proactive maintenance scheduling and smooth operational delivery.
  • Escalate maintenance risks and contribute to commercial development opportunities through minor works and innovation.
  • Actively contribute to peer learning and continuous improvement across the contract.

What You ll Need to Succeed

  • Strong background in multi-site technical operations and facilities management.
  • Proven people management experience, with the ability to mentor and lead by example.
  • Confident communicator across all levels, particularly with client stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles (mechanical, electrical, or controls).
  • Experience working in regulated environments such as healthcare, laboratories, or sterile settings.
  • Proficient in using CAFM systems, Microsoft Office, and mobile work platforms.

Qualifications:

  • IOSH Managing Safely (essential)
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (desirable)
  • HNC in Building Services Engineering (required)
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or a recognised apprenticeship (desirable)
