Job description

Job Description

Are you a Chief or 2nd Engineer ready to step ashore and take the next step in your marine career? This is an ideal opportunity to move into a Technical Manager position—office-based with infrequent travel as needed, but without the constant time at sea. You’ll join a thriving offshore specialist operating a modern fleet of Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs), known for their innovation, reliability, and strong team culture. Based in Scarborough, the role offers a starting salary of £45K+ (with flexibility for the right candidate), a discretionary bonus, 20 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, loyalty-based leave increases, a strong company pension, and a host of additional perks. With significant investment into growth and sustainability, it’s an exciting time to come onboard.

The successful Technical Manager will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day technical performance and compliance of a modern offshore vessel fleet

  • Leading the shore-based engineering team and coordinating third-party contractors and suppliers

  • Supporting crews with real-time technical advice and overseeing defect resolution and preventative maintenance

  • Managing MARAD PMS, technical drawings, critical spares, and warranty tracking on new builds

  • Planning and executing docking periods, yard visits, and internal audits

  • Attending client and Class/Flag meetings, and advising on marine regulations, ISM, SOLAS and MARPOL compliance

  • Contributing to accident investigations, risk assessments and wider safety and compliance initiatives

  • Supporting the DPA function and Emergency Response Team as a key contact in live vessel emergencies

We’re looking for a Technical Manager with:

  • A degree or equivalent in Marine or Mechanical Engineering – candidates working towards qualifications will also be considered

  • At least 3 years’ technical management or engineering experience within the marine sector

  • Strong knowledge of vessel systems (propulsion, electrical, HVAC) and statutory compliance (ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL)

  • Experience liaising with Flag, Class, and Recognised Organisations – ideally within offshore or transfer vessel settings

  • A collaborative, people-focused approach with confidence managing teams, suppliers, and audits

  • Familiarity with Caterpillar engines, PMS systems (e.g. MARAD), and managing warranty processes

Why apply?

This is a hands-on, high-impact role in a well-respected business that’s scaling quickly. You'll be part of a collaborative, experienced team that values innovation, flexibility, and professionalism. In return for your expertise, you’ll receive a competitive base salary (DOE), discretionary bonus, generous holiday entitlement (with loyalty rewards), free parking, casual dress, and a dynamic work environment that supports growth.
