Technical Manager (Mechanical) – Manchester

Up to £70,000 per annum + car allowance & bonus

Overview

About the Role

We are recruiting for a Technical Manager (Mechanical) to join a leading national FM provider based in Manchester. This is a key role, responsible for ensuring asset compliance, maintaining standards, and maximising the lifecycle of critical assets through a proactive, strategic approach. You'll oversee the technical performance of Mechanical and Electrical systems on site, support subcontractors to deliver to the required standards, and act as a trusted technical expert to colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Lead on mechanical issues and provide support across other disciplines where required
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring compliance with statutory and company standards
  • Investigate and manage claims of defect or asset failure
  • Deliver technical reports, surveys, and lifecycle replacement plans
  • Support and monitor third-party contractors, ensuring high standards of delivery
  • Represent the provider at the client's safety and technical groups
  • Provide guidance, technical advice, and support to the wider team
  • Drive innovation in lifecycle and maintenance strategies
  • Maintain compliance and documentation, including record drawings and O&M manuals
About You

We're looking for a technically strong, proactive leader with excellent stakeholder management skills. You'll be confident engaging with senior stakeholders, guiding technical teams, and ensuring the highest standards of compliance and service delivery.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Systems
  • Previously worked in a critical environment
  • Previous experience in a technical management role
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical systems and building services
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely)
  • Experience in stakeholder management and customer-focused environments
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
Desirable
  • Experience in a healthcare or hospital environment
  • Familiarity with PFI contracts
  • Previous Facilities Management experience
