We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Technical Manager to join us.

What You\'ll Be Doing

Provide technical support and oversight for our live sports broadcasts, Podcasts and in-house post-production infrastructure ensuring robust workflows, high-quality delivery, and client management. Work with our in-house production team across RFP’s, ensuring technical budgets and workflows suit the needs of future broadcasts.

Key Responsibilities
Live Broadcast Operations
  • Oversee all technical aspects of Buzz16’s live sport broadcasts
  • Act as the primary technical liaison for our broadcaster, maintaining strong relationships with key partners, and third-party providers
  • Lead weekly debriefs with broadcasters and manage ongoing broadcast requirements
  • Book circuits, review camera plans, and approve EVS specifications to optimize production quality
  • Serve as the main point of contact for Tech Meetings with our facility providers prior to each live weekend or match, and attend debriefs when required
  • Conduct technical recces to assess live broadcast requirements across all tournaments
Post-Production & Technical Infrastructure
  • Provide technical support for the in-house post-production team and assist with servers and edit suites
  • Support the development team with technical analysis, workflows, and plans for new shows, events, and live productions
  • Proactively explore broadcast technology innovations and identify opportunities to enhance workflows and capabilities
  • Organize demonstrations of emerging technologies relevant to editorial, production, and broadcast teams
Freelance Oversight
  • Manage and coordinate freelance Technical Managers (TMs) for Outside Broadcasts and the Remote Operations Centre
  • Book freelance TMs and sound supervisors where needed and ensure they are aligned with broadcast objectives and technical standards
  • Maintain regular communication with the TM team to ensure consistency and resolve any issues quickly
Budget, Planning & Third-Party Management
  • Provide broadcast specifications, review and approve quotes and manage contracts for technical third-party providers
  • Produce technical documentation and schematics to support future broadcasts
  • Manage relevant budgetary responsibilities to ensure financial targets are achieved across tournaments
  • Work closely with Production Executives (PE) and Production Management (PM) teams to resolve budgetary, logistical, and planning challenges
  • Be present onsite during select match weekends to support Outside Broadcasts (OBs) or ROC operations as required

This role will require late starts/finishes and weekend/bank holiday working where necessary as well as travelling to shoot/outside broadcast locations in the UK and abroad.

Who you are
  • Understands all aspects of Live Outside broadcasts including Vision, Sound and EVS
  • Ability to act as a bridge between technical and editorial teams, translating complex technical concepts into simplified, actionable insights
  • Understanding of Cloud and remote workflows
  • Proven experience in live broadcast operations, technical infrastructure, connectivity, and post-production workflows
  • Strong background in project management, particularly in designing and overseeing technical workflows for live TV broadcasts
  • Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy
  • Experienced in working with broadcasters, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams across various levels
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills
  • Flexible, innovative, and quick-thinking, with a proactive approach to technical challenges and broadcast demands
