It’s an exciting time here at Lune & Wild, quality frozen baby & children’s food (DTC, B2B, Retail), has doubled in size every year since launch in 2020 and we are looking for a hands-on technical manager who can lead the technical agenda into our next phase of growth. We need a talented person who can coordinate and maintain the activities required to ensure all Lune & Wild food is safe and legal, alongside delivering market leading quality across all products.

As technical manager you will sit at the heart of this culture setting the quality and technical agenda and leading on all projects to deliver them. Over time you will also be responsible for becoming the subject matter expert on relevant legislation to safeguard and support the business regarding on pack information, marketing content, customer requirements and consumer led queries. The role also provides a
unique opportunity in learning and development as it will be supported by an external technical consultant who will offer coaching and mentoring throughout the role tenure.
Key Responsibilities of the role:
Strengthening Lune & Wild's Category Leading Quality and Safety Standards.
- Lead member of the HACCP team responsible for maintaining and improving safety standards at our kitchen.
- Responsible for leading site quality and technical KPI’s to agreed targets.
- Lead and manage the GMP audit program to drive improved standards in the kitchen.
- Complaints resolution management using root cause analysis and ensuring effective corrective actions at our kitchen.
- Manage raw material intake assessment and finished products, ensuring product quality and safety standards are met and any non-compliance is investigated and actioned.
- Manage quality and technical aspects including VACCP for all suppliers and build strong partnerships aimed at developing a continuous improvement culture.
- Responsible for technical and quality strategy and build data driven recommendations for EPD and technical improvement projects.
Quality Management System
- Build and implement the QMS program and introduce further recommendations to enhance quality and reduce risk
- Responsible for maintaining SALSA certification at our kitchen
- Responsible for translating site QMS into working practices in the kitchen, ensuring that these are trained and assessed accordingly to site certification standards.
- Responsible for promoting the QA & food safety culture through GMP auditing, training and development of our operations team.
- Lead and manage all non-conformances including appropriate corrective action and resolution both at our kitchen and with suppliers
- Manage and coordinate due diligence testing program to ensure claims, product safety and hygiene standards are compliant
- Work with the founder to ensure that all food safety and legislative aspects of NPD/EPD are compliant including product artwork
- Ensure all product specifications are accurate, kept up to date and any change briefed across the business and into customers
- Lead and own the incident management process identifying product issues, managing Rejections and Recalls in partnership with relevant stakeholders including testing the process and training as required
Technical Projects
- GAP analysis and recommendations on migrating from SALSA to BRC Start intermediate and ultimately full BRC.
- Risk assess and sign off new production line technical requirements through growth in kitchen and ultimately a new site move.
- Digitising production and quality records.
- Stakeholder management within key projects including identifying and engaging with the Lune & Wild team, managing expectations and addressing any concerns proactively.
- Supporting and attending trials where appropriate to ensure kitchen production matches product development sign off.
- Supporting business on efficiency and waste projects to improve cost while safeguarding quality standards
You will have
- 5+ years experience in food technical roles
- Experience managing 3rd party certification standards
- Experience of running multiple projects with various disciplines and dependencies.
- Pragmatic technical approach and entrepreneurial mindset
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Ability to coach and train operations team and develop our food safety culture
