Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Manager to join our team within Vistry West London, at our Ealing office. As our Technical Manager, you will coordinate key information, engineering, and working drawing packages to enable residential developments to be built as intended and to obtain all necessary technical approvals. Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage site as agreed with the Senior Technical Manager from design stage to post-completion, in line with the delivery programme.
  2. Undertake key aspects of the Principal Designer role as defined within the Construction Design & Management Regulation 2015.
  3. Complete all necessary Health, Safety & Environmental documents, inline with group policy.
  4. Coordinate delivery of surveys & reports required for development and manage associated requirements from design to completion.
  5. Manage the process of obtaining consultant fee proposals and formal appointment documents in accordance with group procedures.
  6. Coordinate consultants to deliver civil engineering designs including legal plans.
  7. Undertake value engineering assessments to ensure buildability.
  8. Coordinate submission of designs and secure technical approvals for agreements such as S104, S38, and S278.
  9. Manage timely completion of legal agreements following technical approval.
  10. Coordinate utility designs and initial mains laying onto site, ensuring legal agreements are completed promptly.
  11. Coordinate street naming with the local authority, complete plot lists, and distribute internally and externally.
  12. Assist in producing sales brochures, legal documents, and participate in sales handover meetings.
  13. Provide information for Housing Association contracts and attend progress meetings.
  14. Coordinate consultants to deliver house type working drawing packs and liaise with key suppliers for tender, construction, and sales packs.
  15. Prepare all drawings and documents for engineering and superstructure elements for tender, construction, and sales handover.
  16. Ensure accuracy of information supplied by all departments to prevent discrepancies.
  17. Submit all information to building control and warranty providers, and obtain necessary approvals including SAP/HEM assessments, PEA, EPCs, Secured by Design, and Standard Details.
  18. Obtain and collate ancillary specialist drawings such as hot water supply, heating, kitchens, staircases, lintels, ground floors, and precast upper floors.
  19. Attend and chair pre-start meetings, briefing all departments on engineering and working drawings matters.
  20. Coordinate information and liaise with architects, civil and structural engineers, and landscape architects to ensure design consistency.
  21. Assist Land, Planning & Development teams during land acquisition and in discharging planning conditions.
  22. Monitor and report on technical & development fees including S106 obligations.
  23. Resolve technical queries, including conducting site visits as required.

    Minimum Requirements:
  • BTEC HND/HNC in Design, Construction, or Civil Engineering
  • Experience in a technical role within a residential house builder or contractor
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel, & Word
  • Proven delivery of design projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards with high customer satisfaction
