Job description

Technical Manager Metal Finishing.

West Midlands (M6 / M69 area).

£37,000 - £45,000.

Having been established for over 75 years, my client is a progressive organisation with an outstanding reputation, globally. They are seen by many as the go-to supplier for bespoke, first-class metal finishing services and are always extremely busy with a bursting orderbook, to match. My client believes their success has been built by their highly talented workforce whos hard work is always recognised and rewarded and as an SME organisation, they maintain a family feel.

Due to strategic expansion, an opportunity has now arisen for a Technical Manager to join them at their site in the West Midlands; playing a key role within the Senior Management team. Does this sound like the type of company that can offer you the engaging, secure career prospects you are seeking?

In your new role as Technical Manager, you will take ownership of developing, improving and maintaining the companys premier performance and capabilities in all anodising, quality management and technical development.

The Key Responsibilities Are As Follows

Identify, research, develop and implement technical and product innovations, training and processes to meet current and future customer needs.

Use technical knowledge and communication skills to provide advice and support on services (both pre and after-sales) to customers and internally to employees and Managers.

Ensure services are consistent and meet both internal and external requirements, including legal compliance, quality, environmental, health and safety management systems and customer expectations.

Provide hands-on practical support / training across the site and lead the solution of technical, quality issues or health and safety issues - proactively working to reduce errors or implementing new processes.

Supervise the running of the laboratories.

Identify and implement agreed practices to reduce waste and costs, and increase efficiency.

Ensure documentation and relevant data are kept and maintained to required standards and are used to develop, monitor and produce performance reports.

Provide training, tools and techniques at individual or group level to employees and Managers to ensure technical and quality standards are met.

Work with chemicals, test equipment, production equipment and computers.

Follow strict health and safety (COSHH) and environmental instructions.

Attend national and international trade shows, conferences and anodising sites to bring best practice to the UK and ensure leadership in anodising.

In an ideal world, my client would like to find a current Technical Manager with significant anodising experience. However, they are also open to considering people who are currently working as a Chemist or Lab Manager/Supervisor and now ready to take a step up. Alternative metal processes may also be considered, such as electroplating, for example.

In return, my client is offering an excellent salary of £37,000 - £45,000, dependent on experience, with further opportunities for training and progression readily available for those who want it.

The company are easily accessible from Coventry, Birmingham, Leicester and the surrounding areas and the area offers sensibly priced accommodation and a variety of lifestyle options to suit almost any taste.
