Mars Wrigley Plymouth is seeking a Multi Skilled Technician to join our factory team. The role focuses on maintaining plant equipment and resolving electrical and automation issues with a strong electrical bias.

Qualifications

• Engineering Foundation: HNC in Electrical, Automation, or Multi‑Skilled Engineering, or equivalent qualification supported by practical experience.
• Automation & Electrical problem‑solving in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Maintenance & reliability expertise focused on maximum equipment performance and minimum downtime.
• Collaborative, problem‑solving and prioritisation across teams.

Responsibilities

• Automation & electrical troubleshooting of faults in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Plant‑wide technical support including overtime cover to troubleshoot PLC, servo, HMI and related control systems.
• Planned preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs and breakdown responses to maximise performance.
• Identify and implement improvements to maintenance processes and fault resolution.
• Maintain accurate records and reports of maintenance work and system performance.
• Coach and support operators, technicians and apprentices to develop technical capability.

The primary responsibility of the role is to maintain plant equipment and fix mechanical / electrical issues sitewide. For this role a strong electrical bias with control / automation skill will be required, along with an intermediate level of mechanical expertise.

What We’re Looking For

• Engineering Foundation: Higher Certificate (HNC) in Electrical, Automation, or Multi‑Skilled Engineering, or equivalent qualification supported by relevant practical experience.
• Automation & Electrical Problem‑Solving: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical and automation issues within a fast‑paced manufacturing or production environment.
• Maintenance & Reliability Expertise: Experience carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance activities, with a focus on maximising equipment performance and minimising downtime.
• Collaborative & Results‑Driven: Strong problem‑solving, communication, and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and manage competing demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Automation & Electrical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex automation and electrical faults in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Plant‑Wide Technical Support: Provide on‑shift support, including overtime cover where required, to troubleshoot and resolve PLC, servo, HMI, and related control system issues.
• Preventative & Reactive Maintenance: Carry out planned preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, repairs, and breakdown response activities to maximise operational performance.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to maintenance processes, reliability, and fault resolution activities.
• Maintenance Documentation: Maintain accurate records and detailed reports of maintenance work, repairs, and system performance.
• Training & Knowledge Sharing: Coach and support operators, technicians, and apprentices to develop technical capability and promote best practices.
