Job description

Moon Active is one of the world's top mobile game companies, our teams leverage cutting-edge technologies to craft fun and interactive games enjoyed by millions worldwide. We produce exciting and engaging entertainment for players across the globe and pride ourselves on developing top-quality casual games that invite and allow players to connect with one another.

We’re looking for a Technical Level Designer to join a multi-game level based studio, where players enjoy a wide range of experiences. From the eat and grow chaos in Hole Stars to the conveyor based puzzle sorting of Jelly Busters.

As a Technical Level Designer, you will collaborate with a team to craft world-leading player experiences and content. You will own solution‑making across features, prototypes, and level improvements — concepting and building new gameplay elements in Unity, developing tools and automation that speed up the design pipeline, and using data to analyze, tune, and improve your work. You will also help lead our R&D into AI‑powered design workflows, exploring how we prototype, generate, and balance content faster. This is an exciting opportunity to work on many new games with a team of passionate, experienced professionals on top‑tier products.

Responsibilities
  • Creating best‑in‑class casual content in line with our design pillars, to excite and engage players.
  • Playtesting your own work and that of fellow designers to ensure quality and consistency of gameplay.
  • Structuring and ordering content to onboard game concepts/mechanics, as well as providing the best variety and challenge for the games.
  • Using data to inform and balance existing content and form hypotheses and direction for future content.
  • Assisting the level design team with improving our content pipeline and processes.
  • Supporting and collaborating with the wider team in their disciplines from a level design perspective (Production, QA, RND, Art, etc).
Requirements
  • A passion for gaming, particularly casual mobile games.
  • A solid grasp of design methodologies and an up-to-date knowledge of the casual mobile audience, casual game markets and player motivations.
  • Proficiency in Unity (Unreal or similar acceptable), including scripting (C# preferred).
  • Hands‑on experience with automation and AI‑powered tooling to streamline design workflows (e.g. scripting, web tooling / HTML, LLM‑based tools).
  • Ability to analyse player data, specifically engagement/monetisation/performance metrics, and to make informed decisions regarding status and any needed changes.
Advantages
  • Experience in mobile game design/QA/development or similar field.
  • A Game Design (or similar) degree.
  • Experience building design or production pipelines/tooling at scale.
  • Experience mentoring or upskilling designers on technical practices.
