Bedford College Group seeks a Technical Lecturer in Electrical Installation to join the Engineering department. You will deliver industry-relevant electrical installation and building services programmes, blending practical and theoretical learning to meet learner needs.

The role requires delivering across courses, monitoring progress, planning schemes of work, and ensuring high standards of safety and professional practice.

Qualifications

• Holds a Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installations with current industry knowledge.
• Able to teach across Electrical Installation and Building Services with varied methods.
• Willing to achieve teaching qualifications (Level 3 Teaching Award, TAQA, Cert Ed).
• Demonstrates strong communication, organisation & teamwork.
• Committed to safeguarding and health & safety, flexible across college locations.

Responsibilities

Role: Technical Lecturer – Electrical Installation

Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, plus up to a £10,000 market supplement, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role

We are currently seeking a Technical Lecturer in Electrical Installation to join our Engineering department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Technical Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

• Electrical & Building Services Teaching - Plan, develop and deliver engaging, industry-relevant programmes across Electrical Installation, Building Services and Gas, combining practical and theoretical learning to meet individual learner needs.
• Learner Progress, Behaviour & Support - Monitor attendance, achievement and conduct, provide appropriate interventions and pastoral support, manage behaviour in line with College procedures, and help learners achieve successful progression.
• Planning, Assessment & Quality Learning - Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and learning resources, assess and record achievement accurately, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching approaches to maximise learner engagement and success.
• Curriculum Development & Professional Practice - Contribute to course development, quality improvement, work experience and enrichment opportunities, maintain accurate administration, and keep teaching knowledge and industry expertise up to date through continuous professional development.
• Safeguarding, Inclusion & Health and Safety - Maintain safe and supportive classroom and workshop environments, promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, ensure learners follow health and safety requirements, and uphold College policies and professional standards.

About you

• Electrical Qualifications & Industry Expertise - Holds a Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installations, supported by relevant industry experience, current vocational skills, and up-to-date knowledge of electrical technologies and quality assurance requirements.
• Teaching & Learner Engagement - Able to teach across a range of vocational areas and learner levels using varied approaches, with the ability to demonstrate practical skills, motivate and inspire students, and maintain a strong focus on learner success.
• Teaching Qualifications & Professional Development - Willing to achieve relevant teaching and assessment qualifications, including a Level 3 Teaching Award, TAQA and Cert Ed, while continuously maintaining and developing industry knowledge and professional practice.
• Communication, Organisation & Teamwork - Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, effective organisation and time management, reflective practice, and the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of a team.
• Safeguarding, Health & Safety & Flexibility - Committed to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, applying health and safety requirements, and working flexibly across College locations as required.
