The Sterling Choice is seeking a Technical Manager for a growing food manufacturing site in Scotland. You will lead the site Quality and Systems teams, owning the Food Safety and Quality Management Systems, and ensure readiness for BRC, customer and regulatory audits.

A strong Technical function shouldn’t sit on the sidelines of a factory. It should help drive it.

That’s the opportunity here.

This is a growing food manufacturing site, with increasing volumes creating the need to strengthen the Technical team. They’re looking for a Technical Manager who can lead from the factory floor, develop people and make sure Food Safety and Quality remain at the heart of that growth.

You’ll take responsibility for the site Quality and Systems teams, owning the Food Safety and Quality Management Systems and ensuring the factory remains ready for BRC, customer and regulatory audits.

But maintaining compliance is only part of it.

You’ll be expected to look at the data, spot where things could be better and make sure problems actually get solved. Whether it’s a customer complaint, an adverse trend or a factory non-conformance, you’ll push beyond the immediate fix to understand the root cause and prevent it happening again.

There’s a big people element too.

You’ll coach and develop your team, build capability and help create a culture where Food Safety and Quality aren’t seen as something Technical owns alone. That means building strong relationships with Production, Engineering, NPD and Supply Chain and being comfortable challenging when standards aren’t where they need to be.

Customer exposure will be important. You’ll lead audits and visits, build relationships with customers and translate their expectations into something that works practically on site.

You’ll need a strong Technical or Quality background within food manufacturing, with experience of BRC, HACCP, factory systems, audits and leading teams. Just as importantly, you’ll need to be visible, pragmatic and comfortable operating in a fast-moving factory environment.
