Job Title: Technical Lead - Detail Design

Location: Scotstoun, Glasgow. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to GBP49,433 depending on qualifications and experience

What you'll be doing:
  • Acting as a role model within the team by demonstrating strong technical ability and exemplar behaviours
  • Fully conversant with all Detail Design processes and Design Management Systems (LCM or process) and can advise and guide team members through application of them
  • Applying technical leadership and expertise to provide advice and guidance to other professionals within project/team
  • Working with the Team Lead using technical expertise to support prioritising team activities, ensuring schedule and cost-effective working is delivered alongside quality expectations
  • Effectively escalating where appropriate complex design issues and advise Detail Design Management on proposed technical resolutions
  • Contributing to technical governance in line with Quality Management Process
Your skills and experiences:

Essential:
  • SME in any of the following disciplines (Electrical, Structural, Outfit, Mechanical, Piping & HVAC)
  • HNC/HND qualified or equivalent experience
  • Experience in more than one phase of LCM, with sufficient experience of total LCM to enable awareness of adjacent phases / through life engineering issues
  • Eng Tech status or working towards IEng or CEng status (UK)
Desirable:
  • Awareness of Foran
Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The Detail Design team:

Lead the way in naval engineering excellence as a Technical Lead in Detail Design, shaping high-impact outputs across CAD, PDM, and ERM toolsets. Driving delivery in one of the largest disciplines within Naval Ships, you'll guide cross-discipline collaboration, mentor teams, and steer integration across planning, PM, and operational stages.
