About this Role
We’re seeking a CompEx Technical Lead to take the reins in shaping and developing our DSEAR department. In this hands-on role, you’ll provide expert technical compliance support to both internal and external engineers—making a real impact across a range of high-value industrial projects.
You’ll be out in the field 70–80% of the time, travelling across the UK and EU, with full backing from a modern, forward-thinking company committed to excellence in Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) services. What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a skilled professional with a strong foundation in DSEAR and ATEX regulated industries, ideally a time-served apprentice who holds CompEx 01–04 or 01–06 certification. You should be confident advising on technical compliance and passionate about maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide expert guidance on DSEAR and ATEX compliance
· Develop and improve internal policies and QA measures
· Conduct and review hazardous area classifications and risk assessments
· Support project teams and engage with specialist contractors
· Lead site audits and act as a client-facing technical representative
· Deliver training to both internal and external stakeholders
· Oversee QA of handover documentation
· Monitor KPIs and assist in setting department goals
Skills & Experience:
· In-depth understanding of DSEAR, ATEX and BS EN 60079/80079 standards
· Experience with Process Safety Management, LOPA, SIL, and Ex ia documentation
· Strong analytical and risk assessment skills
· Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
· Commercial awareness and strong time management
· Familiarity with industry codes of practice (e.g. EI15, IGEM)
Essential Qualifications:
· Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering
· Full UK driving licence
· Right to work in the UK and ability to travel within the EU
Desirable Qualifications:
· City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing
