Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for multiple Technical Instructors to join the rehabilitation service within the Secure Care Division.

These exciting posts will be based in Rowan View - our Medium Secure Hospital based on the Maghull Health Park.

Through The Life Rooms, patients can access:

Learning: a wide range of courses for positive mental and physical health, as well as cultural and creative opportunities.

Social prescribing:practical one-to-one support in areas of horticulture, leisure-based opportunities, and therapeutic groups (e.g. arts and crafts).

Inclusion: safe and welcoming environments.

Technical Instructors work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Life Rooms, ensuring effective relationships with patients, delivering a consistent approach to patient care and providing therapeutic interventions, while maintaining operational security.

The successful candidates may be required to mobilise across the wider Secure Care Division i.e. Ashworth (High Secure), Rowan View (Medium Secure), Rathbone (Low Secure), Aspen Wood (Low Secure) or Hollins Park (Low Secure) depending on service needs.

Job responsibilities

Support in the development and implementation of patient therapeutic/rehabilitative programmes in conjunction with other members of the team.

Assist in the delivery of professional and vocational/rehabilitative skills to a designated patient group.

Assist Technical Instructors I and II in the formulation of patient care programmes to meet the identified needs of patients.

Assist Technical Instructor I in the assessment, planning, monitoring and implementation of patient-centred therapy programme in line with service standards.

Undertake delegated tasks to contribute to the safe and smooth running of the service.

Provide regular verbal and written reports/information pertaining to patients development within the Rehabilitation Services to multidisciplinary Patient Care Teams with support from senior staff.

Ensure a safe and secure therapeutic environment through conformity with current Health & Safety legislation.

Maintain the health, safety and security of others and initiate, contribute and comply with risk assessment.

To regularly carry out recorded checks to include gym equipment and ensure the maintenance of a safe working environment and to report promptly any problems so as to ensure a prompt response.

Keep up to date with developments and changes in respect of Rehabilitation trends.

Participate in the Trust Appraisal process on an annual basis.

Participate in ongoing mandatory training and to take the opportunity to extend knowledge and skills to maintain and update knowledge and skills

Engage in regular supervision and reflective practice.

Maintain a safe environment in line with High-Security Directions

In the absence of the TI2 the post holder will deputise.
