University of Brighton is seeking a motivated technical specialist to join the Sport & Exercise Science labs at Falmer campus. You will support teaching and research, maintain equipment, and ensure safe, compliant lab operations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with techniques, equipment and software in Sport & Exercise Science.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Experience supporting learners in an educational or training environment.
  • A recognised qualification or equivalent experience in Sport & Exercise Science or related disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain specialist laboratory equipment and software.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for practical teaching sessions.
  • Advise on best practices and techniques in Sport & Exercise Science.

Are you a passionate Sport and Exercise Scientist looking to make a real impact in higher education?

We’re offering an exciting opportunity to join our vibrant technical team within the School of Education, Sport & Health Sciences at the University of Brighton, supporting cutting-edge teaching and research within our newly developed Sport & Exercise Science laboratories at the Falmer campus.

Technical staff are fundamental to the operation of the School and the University.Working alongside the academic team and line manager, you will use your initiative to organise technicaldemonstrations,inductions,andinstructionsforstudentsandstaffinyourspecialist area, for learning and teaching and for research and knowledge exchange. You will provide specialist professional advice to all staff and students and contribute to the development of new and innovative techniques.

Tosetupandmaintainspecialistlearningspacesandsetmodelsofgoodpractice,ensuring the readiness of resources and equipment. You will ensure that work is conducted safely, and that current health and safety guidelines are adhered to in your area.

In a wider context, as a valued member of the technical team, to provide general support to the wider school as required and assist technical colleagues at times of increased demand.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and maintaining specialist laboratory equipment and software.
  • Giving hands-on technical support for practical teaching sessions.
  • Advising on best practices and techniques in Sport & Exercise Science.
  • Supporting teaching, research and knowledge exchange activities and ensuring safe, effective lab operations.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience with techniques, equipment, and software relevant to Sport & Exercise Science.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Experience supporting learners in an educational or training environment.
  • A recognised qualification or equivalent experience in Sport & Exercise Science or related disciplines.
