Job description

Technical Instructor - Aviation

Teesside Permanent 57,000 per annum

Vacancy ID: 644

We are currently supporting a leading aviation and defence organisation in the appointment of an experienced Technical Instructor to join their Technical Training Department in Teesside.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced aircraft engineer, technical trainer, or aviation professional looking to move into a role where you can use your technical expertise to develop the next generation of aviation engineering talent.

The Role

As a Technical Instructor, you will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality technical and non-technical training programmes for engineers, apprentices and operational teams.

Working closely with the Examination Manager / Deputy Training Manager, you will ensure training is engaging, effective and fully aligned with relevant aviation regulations and company standards.

You will have the opportunity to deliver a varied programme of aircraft technical training, maintenance training, human factors, induction programmes and practical assessments, while contributing to the continued development of the organisation's engineering workforce.

The role also offers the opportunity for UK and international travel, including occasional deployments away from home for periods of approximately 1-5 weeks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain and deliver technical and practical training programmes in accordance with Part-147, Part-66 and company requirements.
  • Deliver aircraft type training, technical courses, induction programmes, human factors training and other development programmes.
  • Create and maintain training materials, syllabi, training needs analyses and examination question banks.
  • Conduct examinations, practical assessments and invigilation duties where authorised.
  • Ensure training activities comply with UK CAA, EASA, UK MAA and other applicable aviation regulations.
  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure all training meets regulatory and company standards.
  • Mentor, coach and support engineers, apprentices and students throughout their development.
  • Work with internal departments to identify training requirements and provide appropriate technical solutions.
  • Act as a technical training focal point across the organisation.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Travel within the UK and internationally when required, including occasional 1-5 week deployments.
What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with aviation professionals who have a strong technical background and either existing training experience or a genuine interest in moving into technical instruction.

Essential
  • Previous experience delivering technical, engineering, maintenance or aviation-related training.
  • Good working knowledge of UK CAA and EASA regulations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and training development tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SC Security Clearance.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the UK and internationally.
Desirable

The following would be advantageous:

  • Experience within a Part-147 approved training organisation.
  • Knowledge of Part-66 training and aircraft maintenance licensing.

  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
