DEKRA Automotive is a talented team of people that bring out the best in a business. Part of an international organisation, we are a key service provider to DAF Trucks UK and now have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Heavy Trucks Engineer to join us.

Join the DAF Trucks team as a Technical Heavy Trucks Engineer, where your skills will help drive service excellence, ensure vehicle uptime, and contribute to continuous product improvement across our market-leading range of commercial vehicles.

About the Role

As a Technical Heavy Trucks Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting our dealer network and customers by diagnosing complex technical issues, delivering first-time fixes, and implementing engineering improvements. You'll work both remotely and in the field, liaising with factories, dealers, and customers to ensure technical support is delivered efficiently and in line with DAF Trucks high standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical helpdesk support, resolving product issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve engineering problems using the DAF Trucks Diagnostic Methodology and first-time fix approach.
  • Support Sales Engineers in new vehicle setups and specification checks.
  • Conduct field visits and investigations to improve customer satisfaction and reduce vehicle downtime.
  • Assist with the management and support of Dealer Diagnostic Technicians in the field.
  • Produce timely and accurate technical documentation and visit reports.
  • Analyse product data to identify trends and proactively improve product reliability and durability.
  • Act as a liaison with DAF Trucks factory on engineering matters and support new product rollouts.
  • Advise dealers and bodybuilders/customers on second-life vehicle conversions and options.
About You

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of five years' experience in heavy vehicle engineering.
  • BTEC HNC/HND or equivalent in Motor Vehicle, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Indentured apprenticeship.
  • Valid UK driving licence (Categories B, BE, C, C+E, C1E, D1 & D1E).
  • Driver CPC.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems and diagnostics across multiple models and products.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Team player with a customer-centric approach.

Desirable: ADR licence, robust IT knowledge and skills, familiarity with DAF Trucks products and services.
