About the role:
Our Technical Field Managers are the core of our work and actively manage and lead our teams of staff to safely implement our life saving Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) projects.
The aim of the post will be to implement all aspects of Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) and related tasks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and as directed by the Technical Operations Manager (TOM). This will include performing large scale EOD operations across the country, delivery of training to stakeholders, rehabilitation and/or construction of new facilities, and monitoring of all staff carrying out technical operations to ensure safe practices and to build local capacity for WAM activities. Additionally, you will support the Technical Operations Manager (TOM) in ensuring the safe execution of all MAG technical activities within the country.
The successful candidate must have experience working in mine clearance/EOD/SALW operations in developing countries contaminated by remnants of conflict. You must be EOD 3 IMAS qualified and have substantial previous experience as an EOD operator. You should be experienced in leading, motivating, and managing diverse teams, mentoring, coaching, and conducting training to transfer skills. The ability to work autonomously, develop, review, and comply with security and technical Standard Operating Procedures is essential. Technical knowledge in at least two of these areas is required: EO/SALW/unexploded ordnance, EOD, and mine clearance techniques, including new developments.
The postholder will be innovative, proactive, and committed to high standards, continually seeking to improve effectiveness and efficiency. You will be able to establish effective working relationships internally and externally, representing and promoting MAG. Excellent communication, interpersonal, diplomatic, and organizational skills are required, along with the ability to plan and coordinate activities and projects. Experience working independently in 'stand-alone' environments with minimal supervision is also necessary.
Fluency in English is required; Spanish skills would be highly beneficial.
