MAG International seeks a Technical Field Manager for its Cambodia program. You will lead and support the safe delivery of humanitarian mine action operations, supervising field teams to ensure adherence to SOPs and maintaining rigorous risk assessments.
You will train and mentor national staff, plan and monitor field activities, and adapt operations to challenging environments while upholding MAG’s humanitarian principles and safety standards.
The starting salary package for this position is £64,824 GBP / approx. $88,000 USD including all allowances.
This is an unaccompanied post.
MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.
In this role, you will lead and support the safe delivery of humanitarian mine action operations in complex environments, helping to reduce the threat of explosive ordnance to affected communities. You will supervise field teams, ensure adherence to our Standard Operating Procedures, and carry out ongoing risk assessments to maintain the highest safety standards. Working closely with colleagues, you will contribute to planning, surveying, and monitoring activities while strengthening local capacity through training and mentoring national staff. You will also play a key role in problem solving, adapting operations to changing conditions, and supporting the Technical Operations Manager in ensuring effective programme delivery. With MAG, we place strong emphasis on safety, collaboration, and accountability, giving you the chance to apply your technical expertise in a role that makes a direct, meaningful difference. This position offers you the responsibility and challenge of leadership in demanding contexts while supporting teams and communities to build safer futures.
MAG’s Cambodia programme addresses the problems faced by mine-affected communities by providing efficient, effective and safe clearance of land. In Cambodia MAG undertakes minefield survey and clearance, EOD work (explosive ordnance disposal) and cluster munition clearance. This is supported and enhanced by MAG’s community liaison activities, including providing Risk Reduction Education (RRE) to the local population.
You will have a strong track record of working in Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) programmes within conflict-affected settings and be confident operating in remote environments with limited supervision. You will demonstrate the ability to apply technical knowledge effectively while maintaining safe, compliant operations. Strong organisational, communication and reporting skills are essential. You will bring a basic understanding of community liaison and its role in supporting effective HMA delivery and be able to develop and apply clear field operations and administrative work plans. You will be committed to building team capability through mentoring and knowledge sharing, and able to work collaboratively across cultures while upholding MAG’s humanitarian principles. Areas of operations are often remote with basic amenities, so you will need to be comfortable living and working in challenging environments. Experience in specialised areas such as cluster munition survey, animal detection systems, or advanced EOD techniques would be advantageous though not essential.
Please note that as part of MAG's commitment to safeguarding, this post is subject to background checks before an offer of employment is confirmed. For more information on MAG’s approach to safeguarding and background checks on our website.
