Technical Engineering Manager - West London/Berkshire Borders

A leading provider of mission-critical engineering and maintenance services is seeking a Technical Manager to oversee operations at a data centre facility based in West London/Berkshire borders.
This is a site-based role responsible for the delivery of both operational and commercial aspects of a high-availability environment. The successful candidate will have strong leadership experience within critical environments, ideally with a data centre background.
Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day operational and commercial delivery of the site-based contract.
- Ensure the continuous operation of critical building services and systems.
- Act as the Senior Authorised Person for HV systems.
- Lead root cause analysis and post-incident reviews for technical faults.
- Deliver scenario-based drills and technical training for engineering staff.
- Act as the key client interface, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring satisfaction.
- Ensure planned maintenance is delivered to a high standard and meets all SLA and compliance requirements.
- Plan and oversee system shutdowns and major project work.
- Manage all reactive repairs, ensuring swift, safe, and effective resolution.
- Oversee subcontractor performance, including pricing, auditing, and compliance.
- Work closely with the permit manager to maintain rigorous permit-to-work controls.
- Maintain stock of essential spares and materials.
- Ensure accurate and complete maintenance records are kept.
- Support the Account Manager with statutory compliance and Quality Management System documentation.
- Ensure preparation of risk assessments and method statements for all works.
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure adherence to site safety and operational procedures.
- Promote and ensure a safe and healthy working environment in line with company and site-specific policies.
Requirements
- Electrically qualified with a strong background in M&E engineering.
- Demonstrable experience managing operational contracts within critical environments (data centre experience strongly preferred).
- Proven ability to lead site teams, manage subcontractors, and deliver service excellence.
- Comfortable acting as the client-facing lead for all technical matters.
- Experience with high-voltage systems and permit-to-work processes.
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance and risk management in critical infrastructure.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Must live within a commutable distance to West London/Berkshire Borders (this is a fully site-based role).
