Job description

Job Summary

Reporting to the UK Technical Manager, the Technical Engineer will support the technical aspects of design, projects, critical power services, and quality departments. Responsibilities include technical report writing, drawing analysis for compliance with project specifications and international standards, programming smart relays and changeover controllers, designing protection schemes, and performing heat dissipation and burden calculations for DC systems. The role involves clear communication with project management, operations, and SHEQ teams in the UK and Ireland to meet project deadlines.

What a typical day looks like:

  1. Engaging with the development of company products and project execution;
  2. Assisting design teams with product compliance to EN / IEC standards;
  3. Identifying system deficiencies and implementing technical solutions;
  4. Reviewing and assisting with general arrangement and schematic drawings;
  5. Supporting the sales team with technical queries to provide cost-effective solutions;
  6. Producing technical reports and design calculations;
  7. Supporting quality assurance by addressing technical defects;
  8. Liaising with clients and team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues;
  9. Managing workload to meet deadlines;
  10. Building relationships with internal stakeholders;
  11. Contributing to employee training and development;
  12. Completing tasks as directed by the UK Technical Manager.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  1. Preferably a degree in Electrical Engineering, but not mandatory;
  2. At least 5 years’ experience with Power Switchgear and Controlgear testing, commissioning, or design/support;
  3. Minimum GCSE English & Maths Grade 4 or equivalent;
  4. Basic understanding of international standards related to Power Switchgear and Controlgear is advantageous;
  5. Strong personnel management and communication skills;
  6. Ability to write clear technical protocols and reports;
  7. Team player with a positive attitude;
  8. Proactive problem solver with a focus on continuous improvement;
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Office and electrical engineering drawings;
  10. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure;
  11. Willingness to travel within the UK and abroad;
  12. Valid driver’s license.
