Job summary

WSP's Building Structures team seeks a Technical Director to lead structural engineering for major energy infrastructure projects in the UK. You will guide project teams, manage clients, and drive technical excellence.

You will mentor engineers, shape technical standards, and contribute to bids and business development while delivering safe, sustainable, and innovative solutions.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a relevant professional body.
• Significant experience in structural engineering design and project leadership.
• Experience in substations, transmission & distribution, OHL, power stations or petrochemical facilities.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
• Strong commercial awareness and client-facing skills.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.
• Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing and risk management.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission & distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.

WSP's Building Structures team delivers capital national infrastructure projects in the Energy sector, including Transmission and Distribution, Overhead Line (OHL) systems, power stations, and other critical energy assets.

We are seeking a Technical Director to provide senior leadership in delivering structural engineering services for major energy infrastructure projects. The role involves leading project teams, managing client relationships, and driving technical excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.
• Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing, and risk management.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
