Job summary

VPZ, the UK’s leading vape retailer, seeks a Technical Director to own technology vision, strategy, and roadmap. You will work with the Executive Team and Board to align tech investment with business priorities and drive growth through leading IT, Data, and Ecommerce teams.

You will champion governance, security, and scalable infrastructure while delivering measurable business value. This role is five days onsite at VPZ’s Head Office in Newbridge, Edinburgh.

Qualifications

• Proven senior technology leadership experience within retail, ecommerce, or multi-site environments.
• Demonstrable experience defining and delivering technology strategy at Director or equivalent level.
• Strong commercial mindset with ability to align technology to business outcomes.
• Balanced leader who combines strategic vision with hands-on ownership of core projects.
• Excellent stakeholder management, including working with CEOs, Boards, and non-technical leaders.

Responsibilities

• Define and actively own VPZ’s enterprise-wide technology strategy, ensuring it supports current operations and future growth.
• Translate business strategy into a clear, prioritised technology roadmap with accountability for milestones.
• Provide strategic oversight across retail, ecommerce, data, and core systems.
• Collaborate with Directors to ensure technology underpins commercial, operational, and customer objectives.
• Lead technology investment planning, vendor strategy, and major system decisions.
• Establish governance, security, resilience, and scalability.
