Overview: PM Group is a leading International engineering, architecture, project and construction management firm. We have an exciting new opportunity to join the business at a senior level as Technical Director of Electrical Engineering. You will be the central voice for Electrical Engineering Design and to develop and lead this discipline within PM Group. This is a full-time, recoverable, technical role within our design service. You will work with the Director of Engineering and other Heads of Services to efficiently and consistently deliver design services across the Group. This is a group-wide role, covering all 20 design offices.

You will contribute significantly to the company's improved performance, the delivery of safe assets to our customers, and the creation of a work environment conducive to enabling a safe, healthy, and motivated workforce. This is a senior appointment, reporting to the Director of Engineering, with responsibility for leadership, governance, troubleshooting, and defining the ways of working in Electrical Engineering Design. We offer a flexible working environment, providing a hybrid working arrangement with the option to work from home up to two days a week for this role. This key role will be based out of one of our Irish or UK offices. Interested applicants should submit their CV. Closing Date: 26th July 2024.

Responsibilities

1. PM Group Strategy for Electrical Engineering: As the Technical Director, you will lead the development of the discipline in support of PM Group’s strategy and local Business Unit plans.
2. Develop a strategy for Electrical Engineering across the Group.
3. Support the Business Units with strengthening and growing their departments.
4. Develop targeted SME areas within Electrical Engineering.
5. Work with Architecture and the Engineering Disciplines to align and develop cross-functional competencies.
6. Define the range of design activities and deliverables required for our core sectors.
7. Digitalisation of Business Processes: Define and implement a strategy for continuous improvement of Electrical Engineering.
8. Develop and improve the Electrical Engineering Service Delivery Platform (SDP).
9. Create a Group-wide standardized way of working for Electrical Engineering.
10. Ensure integration of key considerations in design processes.
11. Governance of Design Delivery: Support/input to key Sales Proposals as requested.
12. Work with the Director of Engineering to establish a ‘watch list’ of key projects.
13. Influence early stages of design on key projects.
14. Chair Single Discipline Design Reviews (SDDRs) on key projects.
15. Review Project Basis of Safety documents as required.
16. Input to end of Concept/BoD ‘go, no go’ reviews for high-risk projects.
17. Troubleshooting: Be a ‘first responder’ for critical issues regarding Electrical Engineering design.
18. Meet with senior members of both our own and the customer’s team.
19. Agree corrective actions and act as Technical Sponsor for them.
20. Keep PM Group management updated on corrective action progress.

Qualifications

1. Passion for Electrical Engineering.
2. Safe asset focus.
3. Bachelor degree.
4. Relevant industry experience with some working at senior management level.
5. Good working knowledge of Pharma, Med Tech, and Data Center industries.
6. Member of a recognized Engineering professional body.
7. Strong technical, commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
9. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
10. Good communication & people skills.
11. Self-starter and decision maker.
12. Fluent in English.
