Job description

We are seeking a Technical Director who will be deeply embedded within the regional market, focusing on client-facing activities, business growth, market strategy, and technical leadership. This role is more strategic and less involved in day-to-day operations, playing a key part in diversifying our team in terms of staff and revenue.

The Technical Director will support the Development team, with expertise in development and transport planning, civil infrastructure design, and development & infrastructure delivery.

The role:

  • Identify and pursue new business development opportunities, leveraging your network to help win work and increase market share.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Director and local office Place Lead to set growth targets and plans.
  • Liaise with public and private sector clients, authorities, and regulators to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Provide technical advice and manage development requirements of clients.
  • Demonstrate behaviors aligned with core values.
  • Coordinate with colleagues to share market intelligence, best practices, and innovations.
  • Lead and support bids, reviewing and authorizing submissions, adding value both commercially and technically.
  • Act as Project Director for major and strategic projects.
  • Ensure team compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) standards and support H&S / Corporate Responsibility initiatives.

What you need to succeed:

  • Degree in transport planning or civil engineering
  • Chartered status
  • Strong commercial and strategic skills with a proven track record in business development
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and management skills
