Job description

Purpose

Provides sound technical advice to the design team in understanding how the desired style and fit can be achieved. Responsible for tracking the design brief pack with the vendor and ensuring quality standards are met throughout. This role actively troubleshoots with stakeholders as technical issues arise, presenting options and solutions aligned to the Politix brand objectives. Ensure vendors have all necessary information to commence production.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Technical Advice:
    Provide technical advice and support to the team regarding styling and fitting requirements.
  2. Ensure adherence to critical path timeframes, providing consistent communication to the Design / Product Development teams, especially when variances are anticipated.
  3. Preparation and Fitting:
    Pre-measure, QC check, steam, and hang all samples prior to fitting sessions. Identify variances and workmanship or construction issues and clearly communicate them during the session.
  4. Ensure all fit comments and construction changes are accurately captured and filed into the technical design pack after each fitting session.
  5. Ownership of fit, including measuring charts and Fit block.
  6. Ensure products are produced according to technical specifications, such as material requirements, dimensions, and tolerances.
  7. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    Maintain detailed records of product specifications, testing results, and quality control measures.
  8. Review and approve fabric lab test reports and care labels and communicate changes to supplier.
  9. Ensure that products meet regulatory and safety requirements, such as product labeling and packaging.

Key Capabilities

  1. Relevant tertiary qualification in design or similar.
  2. Proven product development and garment tech experience, particularly with apparel design and manufacturing.
  3. High level of attention to detail, ensuring precision in product development and quality assurance.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills, facilitating effective collaboration with team members and suppliers.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAD software.
