Role Overview

We are hiring a Technical Designer to develop expressive enemies for our upcoming AAA FPS game. The role involves implementing, tuning, and systemizing enemy archetypes using Unreal Engine 5. Collaboration with design, animation, and code teams is essential to create challenging and integrated enemies.

Location

Our state-of-the-art studio is located in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, overlooking the Harbour.

Minimum Requirements
  • Shipped at least one console title in a Technical Design, AI Design, or related role.
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 Blueprint scripting.
  • Experience with Behaviour Trees, Blackboards, and AI logic.
  • Understanding of FPS combat pacing, enemy threat readability, and encounter balance.
  • Familiarity with animation integration: montages, sync markers, notifies, state machines.
  • Passion for creating evolving enemy challenges to enrich gameplay.
Responsibilities
  • Implement enemy behaviors from prototype to production.
  • Build and maintain modular systems with Behaviour Trees, Blackboards, and Blueprint logic.
  • Coordinate attack timing, hit reactions, and executions with animation teams.
  • Maintain documentation and asset organization for enemy systems.
