Job description

  • Location: London, with hybrid working across home, our office and live project sites.
  • Working pattern: A flexible, project-led approach, with attendance at the office and sites as required
About Soul Spaces

Soul Spaces is a human-first, design-led workplace agency helping businesses find, design and build better places to work. We support our clients throughout the entire workplace journey, from office search and lease negotiation through to workplace design, fit-out and project delivery.

We combine thoughtful design with commercial understanding and a hands-on approach to creating workplaces that work for the people who use them.

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Designer to join our team on a four-month contract, supporting the design and delivery of commercial office fit-out projects. This is an immediate-start opportunity for someone who can hit the ground running, take ownership of technical drawing packages and work closely with our design and delivery teams to bring projects to life.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for developing design concepts into coordinated, buildable technical information, ensuring drawings are accurate, detailed and issued in line with project programmes.

Working across our London office, home and live project sites, you’ll collaborate with the wider team, consultants, subcontractors and contractors to help ensure our designs translate seamlessly from the drawing board to the finished space.

We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, organised and confident working at pace, with a practical understanding of commercial interiors and the realities of delivering projects on site.

Technical Design & Drawing Production
  • Develop workplace design concepts into detailed, accurate and buildable technical drawings.
  • Produce general arrangement (GA), setting-out, partition, ceiling, joinery and finishes drawings.
  • Prepare detailed plans, elevations, sections and construction details as required.
  • Develop bespoke joinery and interior detailing, ensuring designs are practical, coordinated and suitable for construction.
  • Translate design intent into clear technical information that can be understood and implemented by contractors and subcontractors.
Coordination & Technical Development
  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical (M&E) information, consultant drawings and subcontractor details into the overall design package.
  • Identify and resolve design clashes, inconsistencies and technical issues before information is issued.
  • Work closely with the design and project delivery teams to ensure technical solutions align with the design intent, project scope and budget.
  • Review technical information and flag potential buildability, specification or coordination issues.
  • Liaise with external consultants, suppliers and contractors to obtain the information needed to progress the design.
Site Surveys & Project Delivery
  • Carry out site surveys and measured checks to verify existing conditions and inform the design.
  • Attend live sites as required to support technical coordination and resolve queries.
  • Respond to site queries and requests for information, working collaboratively with the project delivery team to find practical solutions.
  • Review site conditions and communicate any discrepancies between drawings and the actual build.
  • Support the smooth transition from design development through to tender, construction and installation.
  • Prepare and issue coordinated tender and construction drawing packages in line with project programmes.
  • Maintain drawing registers, revision histories and document control processes.
  • Ensure drawings are clearly annotated, appropriately detailed and issued to the correct parties.
  • Manage competing deadlines across multiple workstreams, prioritising deliverables to keep projects moving.
  • Communicate progress, outstanding information and potential delays to the wider team.
About You

You’ll be a technically minded designer with experience producing construction-ready drawing packages, ideally within commercial office interiors, workplace design or fit-out.

You’re comfortable working independently, managing your workload and collaborating with a wider project team. You understand that good technical design isn’t just about how a space looks — it’s about making sure it can be built accurately, efficiently and to the intended standard.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience in a Technical Designer, Technical Design or Interior Design Technician role.
  • Experience delivering technical drawing packages for commercial interiors or office fit-out projects.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and the ability to produce accurate, well-coordinated technical drawings.
  • A good understanding of construction detailing, building materials, finishes, joinery and interior specifications.
  • Experience coordinating M&E information and working with contractors, subcontractors and consultants.
  • The ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and building services drawings.
  • Experience carrying out site surveys and resolving technical queries during construction.
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and drawing revision management.
  • The confidence to work autonomously, communicate clearly and deliver to tight deadlines.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to hit the ground running.

Experience with Revit, SketchUp or other relevant design software would be beneficial, but strong technical drawing and delivery skills are the priority.

What We’re Looking For

This is a short-term contract, so we’re looking for someone who can make an immediate impact. You’ll be comfortable picking up existing projects, understanding the design intent quickly and producing the technical information needed to keep delivery on track.

You’ll be collaborative, proactive and commercially aware, with a genuine interest in creating well-designed workplaces. You’ll care about the details, but you’ll also understand the bigger picture: delivering great spaces for our clients, on programme and to a high standard.
